On Tuesday, September 13th, 2005 at 10:36 p.m., our family welcomed to the world the latest addition to the family...a precious healthy baby girl. She's absolutely beautiful and the minute I touched her, she had my heart. My sister Susan waited until the age of almost 37 to get married for the first time. Just a year ago, we were celebrating her marriage and today we added another special personality to our mix. If her birth is any indication, she'll fit in just right and contribute her share of a little more excitement to an already never dull group. She arrived by a surprise C-Section after a day of making everyone wait for her appearance...but Mom and baby are doing great. I've already started spoiling her and trust me...I've kept track of all the "surprises" and gifts that Aunt Sue has given my children over the years that she thought were hilarious...and plan to pay her back for everyone of them with special things for my new niece.
It's been a month full of blessings, even amid the nervousness of uncertain outcomes. My mom is recovering from her surgery and even though she is still in precarious health, the hurdle of fixing one problem and not having to face chemotherapy is over. I know to enjoy every minute we have together and to make memories every chance that is given since life is so uncertain. Now, we also can breathe a little easier since the baby arrived safely and can get on with the pleasure of taking each day and savoring it...good and bad.
So...Welcome to the world Audrey Elizabeth...I found out just a week or so ago that she would have my middle name...it still makes me a little teary when I think about it. She's 19" long and weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces. She's perfect, beautiful and most importantly, healthy...and surrounded by love.
